A Pan-Yoruba Socio-cultural group, the Yoruba KO’YA Movement will on Thursday 14th June 2018 hold a no-holds barred interactive section with the members of Vigilante Group and Hunters Associations on how to checkmate the renewed cases of kidnappings and destruction of farm lands by Fulani Herdsmen in Ekiti State.
The group who will be inaugurating the state chapter of its steering committee at the event will also be donating security gadgets such as Patrol Vans, Raincoats, Boots, Torchlight, Whistles etc to the Vigilante and Hunters in the
state at the occasion.
In a statement made available to news men yesterday in Lagos, the National Director of Organization and Publicity of the group, Mr. Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye said the aims and objectives of the parley is to examine the effects of the menace of Fulani herdsmen on food security and safety of lives and property and the causes of Fulani herdsmen and farmers crisis in Ekiti State.
The event which will be chaired by the Alaaye of Efon Alaaye Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Emmanuel Adesanya Aladejare will discuss the management options of Fulani Herdsmen versus Farmers’ crisis as it affects food security in the state.
The statement said the group is worried by the recent cases of kidnapping around Ekiti and Osun State Boundary stressed that the parley is necessary to prevent Ekiti State and Yoruba Land by extension from being encircled by the murderous Fulani Herdsmen who some of them have now abandoned the business of grazing to kidnapping of their Host and destruction of peoples farmlands.
Adeleye said the parley will afford all those whose livelihood are affected to gain understanding of how Fulani herdsmen-farmers crisis can be amazingly curtailed.
He said participants at the occasion are self-determination groups such as members of Hunters and Vigilante Groups, Market Men and Women Associations, Farmers, Youth, Students and Entrepreneurs with vast interest in Agriculture.
The statement stated that Key Note Speakers at the occasion are the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, Seasoned Media Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Yoruba KO’YA Movement, Otunba ‘Deji Osibogun, the Iyaloja of Ekiti State, Chief Mrs Waje Oso and others.
The event which will hold at Dave Hotel Event Hall, Adebayo, Ado-Ekiti, start by 10am.
